Please remember us when making your choice for Giving Tuesday on December 3rd. We will be making some major renovations to the museum this Spring and your support will help us immensely.
Please go to our "Donate" page and choose "OAHS Operations". Thank you for being a part of our family.
We were saddened to hear about the passing of our friend, Steve. Steve was a frequent participant in the Oregon Air Tours and was a committed supporter of museum activities. He will be missed and we extend our heart-felt condolences to his wife, Linda, son, Jeff and daughter, Jana.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wing; sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things you have not dreamed of, wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
my eager craft through footless halls of air... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace where never lark nor ever eagle flew and, while with silent lifting mind I've trod the high un-trespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God.
- John Gillespie Magee Jr..
Jon Husser was born in Louisiana on January 8, 1938. He moved to Oregon in 1948 and enlisted in the Marines in 1956.
He became a member of the Oregon Antique and Classic Airplane Club (OACAC) in the 1980s and served as its President from 2007 until 2009. Jon also served on the Board of Directors for Oregon Aviation Historical Society (OAHS). Preserving Oregon's aviation history was very important for Jon. Jon flew air tours with Oregon Air Tours and Oregon Historical Trail Flyers tours. Jon was a Marine, outdoors man, race car driver, history buff, family man and an avid Ducks fan.
He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Since 1983 we've been preserving Oregon's rich aviation heritage. See vintage airplanes at this aviation museum in Cottage Grove, Oregon in the southern Willamette Valley. We share the story of Oregon aviation: ordinary people achieving the extraordinary!
As featured in the September 2023 issue of EAA's Sport Aviation! Watch the video of this wonderful little plane.
